God proved to me through other people that prayer is extremely powerful. Though uncomfortable to ask someone at times, showing your love to someone by telling them you’re praying for them is such a beautiful thing!
Right now, I’m learning that doing uncomfortable things might actually be a valuable thing. Doing things that normal people just don’t do, surprisingly, isn’t as bad as you might think.
I’ve never felt normal. But who has, right? As a homeschooler/food blogger/crazy runner, my life has always looked a little different. But while being yourself is great, sometimes God wants us take a step FURTHER.
Have you ever, in your walk with Christ, felt a tug towards someone, like you suddenly just really needed to ask them how their day was, give them a hug, or help them in another way? Have you acted on those feelings?
Recently, I’ve felt a strong pull to not only pray for my peers, but also intentionally ask them what they needed prayer for. Not only because I wasn’t sure what was going on in their lives, but also because I had recently been on the receiving end of some prayers. Let’s see if I can clear things up a bit more.
I’ve been struggling with lots of things lately. (Oh, now there’s a surprise.) It just so happened that a couple weeks ago, one of my friends just simply told me he was praying for me. For some reason, that just totally amazed me. Because he didn’t know what I was going through, yet he still knew something was up and he was praying for me. I honestly had no idea that just knowing someone is praying for you could have such a huge affect on your week. Or month. Or year.
Later that week, (it may have even been that same day, I’m not sure) my mom prayed over me because I was having a lot of stress with school, running, and the blog. This was just another blessing that didn’t even know I needed.
Then, that next Sunday, I was talking to a lady at my church. Her faith and strength through what she is going through right now encourages me so much! When she gave me a hug and told me she was praying for me, I almost cried. God knew that was exactly the kind of encouragement I needed right then, and his timing always amazes me!
I realized how simple this was to do: just talk to someone, let them know you’re praying for them, and do it! Even though you might feel SUPER uncomfortable and weird at first. Because in a normal day, how many acquaintances do you know that will just come up to you and ask what you need prayer for? Yeah, not a whole lot probably- especially if you’re a young adult. So don’t be surprised at how weird it feels at first, but also, don’t feel surprised at how rewarding for you and for the other person it can be!
So yeah, now I’m a homeschooler/food blogger/crazy runner/prayer warrior. I felt God telling me that’s how I needed to be encouraging people, and he showed me just how beautiful it was to know that someone loves you so much, they spend time praying for you. So now, I’m giving that to others. He proved to me that being uncomfortable and doing his work goes hand in hand, but he ALSO proved that following his plan for you is always worth it.
Will you?
